Karen brings engaging, hands-on workshops to primary schools, children’s centres, community events, and holiday clubs throughout Northamptonshire.
1. Storytelling Workshops
Karen has performed at numerous community festivals, children’s centres, and primary schools. Her storytelling sessions ignite a lifelong love of listening, creating, and performing stories.
- Helicopter Technique: Karen has completed specialist training in the Helicopter Technique of Storytelling and Story Acting (pioneered by Vivian Gussin Paley). Children dictate their own stories word-for-word, which are then brought to life by their peers acting them out in a supportive circle.
- Story Massage: Certified Story Massage sessions that combine positive, gentle touch with spoken rhyme and story, promoting calm focus and emotional connection.
2. Circus Skills Workshops
Karen brings an extensive selection of colourful, professional circus equipment for children to learn new coordination skills and build resilience.
- Activities Include: Plate spinning, feather balancing, silk ribbon spinning, junior stilts, Pedalgos, hoppers, Diabolos, and flower sticks.
- Capacity: Suitable for groups of up to 30 participants at a time.
- Perfect for school enrichment days, summer festivals, scouts/brownies, and holiday clubs.
3. Balloon Modelling Workshops
- Available as 1-hour or 2-hour interactive sessions.
- High-quality pumps and modelling balloons provided for all attendees.
- Children learn the fundamentals of balloon twisting to create animals, swords, flowers, and colourful silly hats.
4. “Play and Perform” Drama Workshops
Available as an after-school performing arts club for primary-aged children, or coordinated for holiday schemes and community groups.
- Termly themes, drama games, character development, and vocal exercises.
- Builds public-speaking confidence, emotional expression, and teamwork in an encouraging, non-judgmental environment.
